WJCB Secretary at the All American: The American Jersey Cattle Association kindly arranged for James Godfrey to give a presentation to Jersey breeders at the NAILE, Kentucky, in November. The presentation, on the work of the WJCB and the conference next year, was well received and there was considerable interest in attending the 18th International Conference in the Island of Jersey. The All American Show, with nearly 400 head on display, was a tremendous show of Jersey cattle - congratulations to the AJCA and all the exhibitors.
RAWF Canada: Jerseys triumph at the Winter Fair! Vandenberg Amedeo Gorgeous Ex-97,bred by Mitch & Yolanda Vandenberg and owned by the Borland family of Rapid Bay Jersey Farm, won the the Supreme Champion Female of All Breeds - the first time this has been done by a Jersey! With 235 head of cattle on display, congratulations to all in Canada who are driving the breed forward in that country. The Jersey Sale also proved to be a roaring success with an average price achieved over $8,750. Despite the cold outside its clear that in Canada the Jersey is hot, hot, hot!!
Agriscot UK: A Jersey team of young farmers took top honours in the Agriscot Super Team Competition. The team consisting of Andrew Curie, William Boyd and Michael Yates undertook a virtual stock judging, reason giving and written sire selection excersise to beat the opposition.
United Kingdom - RADBF/NMR Gold Cup: Congratulations to Ian and Sally Macalpine, of Clitheroe in Lancashire, who have won the UK dairy industry's most prestigious award with their herd of 200 Jerseys after being finalists for the last three consecutive years. In the UK there's nothing like winning the Gold Cup to make people take notice of what the Jersey can do.
Robin Corner: It is with great sadness that we record the death of Robin Corner on 17 November. Robin was a stalwart of the WJCB and the Jersey Cattle Society of the UK. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and sincere condolences are passed to Anne and his family.
