Jersey Canada releases new Strategic Plan for 2008 to 2010!
The overflowing enthusiasm evident in growing Canadian Jersey circles is obvious in a new Strategic Business Plan that Jersey Canada has just released! The plan carries the apt title “Jersey Rising”.
National President Pierre Martin of Shefford, Quebec lauded the work of an energetic Strategic Plan Committee led by Maureen Bowers of Coaticook, Quebec in bringing the plan together. Martin stated that: “This committee, blessed with representation from across this vast country, consulted with the association’s key committees and the National Board on a very in-depth basis to formulate a challenging plan for the next three years of breed and association growth. The plan is also 'doable', stimulating us to stretch to reach periodic milestones and goal-posts. Everyone involved is exceedingly excited about ongoing prospects for the Jersey breed in Canada! Growth in activity levels of the association during this decade has been nothing short of exceptional and extraordinary! The key attributes of the Jersey breed like a longer herd life than industry average, great reproductive efficiency and efficient production of high solids milk are attracting great numbers of new owners to the breed. We are especially thrilled by our highest membership since 1968 in 2007 and a growth of 65% in the number of milk-recorded herds in Canada with a Jersey presence from 2001 to 2007! Selecting a title like “Jersey Rising” was a natural and easy choice!!”
Martin paid special tribute and thanks to the hard-working Strategic Plan Committee of Chair, Maureen Bowers, Quebec; Rhonda Hulan, New Brunswick; Andrew Vander Meulen, Robert Jarrell and Larry Sheardown from Ontario; Janna Remond from Manitoba and David Morey from Alberta. Jersey Canada Staff members Russell G. Gammon, who served as Secretary for the Committee and Ryan Barrett were also involved in the process of preparing the plan for Board consideration and approval.
“Jersey Rising” lays out clear blueprint for continued improvement, promotion and growth of the Jersey breed in Canada and for the national association of Jersey owners. For more details on the plan please contact Jersey Canada at firstname.lastname@example.org.
