18th International Conference & tours - England, Jersey & France
The conference and tours may be but a fond memory for all those who attended, but finishing the 'clear up' is only just in sight for those 'at the sharp end'. Normal service, however, is now being resumed from the desk of the WJCB Secretary and hence this, the fist WJCB E-News for some time. On behalf of the Bureau I should like to record a huge "thank you" to all those who helped make the events this year such a tremendous success; whether in the organising, hosting or attending, the feedback we have received confirms that this was the 'world Jersey family' at its best. For those who weren't able to attend some of the highlights can be seen from the image gallery at the WJCB website, click here.
Conference - "Jersey without borders" - 19 to 21 May
The formal conference programme was widley acclaimed as being one of the best ever. The main papers will be re-produced on the Bureau website as soon as the transcripts have been checked with the speakers.
World Jersey Cheese Festival
This new initiative of the Bureau, organised by the RJA&HS, and the world's first product festival dedicated to a single breed was launched in Jersey during the conference and was a great success. Over 100 entries were received from 10 countries and a decision is to be taken shortly on whether this event will be run again next year in 2009 or biannulay as was originally suggested, i.e. in 2010.
Congratulations to Jan Dirk and Irene Van Der Voort from Holland, who took the title of the "Worlds Best Jersey Cheese" with their cheese Oulde Remeker. Full results are available on the Festival website.
